Course Description:

Surgeons have now acquired extensive clinical experience with robotic integration of operating rooms, control of the video camera, performance of operations from remote consuls and telementoring of operations. The didactic sessions in this course update the participant in robotic surgery techniques and results. Lectures will cover all abdominal and cardiac robot-assisted operations. All attendees will have access to voice control systems for integration of the operating rooms and AESOP in a dry laboratory setting. The hands-on animal laboratory will give participants experience with Zeus or DaVinci Assisted Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and Nissen Fundoplication.

Animal Lab Description:

Four 4 hour lab sessions will run concurrently with the didactic. Didactic sessions will be telecast to the lab. During each 4 hour session, the attendees will learn the safe use of Zeus or daVinci surgical robotic systems. They will perform robot-assisted cholecystectomy or Nissen fundoplication in an animal model.

Logistics:

Bus transportation will be provided from the New York Hilton & Towers to Hackensack University Medical Center, and return to the Hilton. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

CME Certification:

Hackensack University Medical Center is accredited by the Medical Society of New Jersey to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
